About the brand
Glenlivet
The Glenlivet distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, near the town of Ballindalloch. Founded in 1824 by George Smith, it is one of the oldest legal distilleries in Scotland, and is known for producing single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality.
The Glenlivet's whisky is made using the finest local ingredients, including crystal-clear water from the River Livet, which flows through the surrounding hills. The barley used in the production of the whisky is also sourced locally, and is malted on site at the distillery.
The distillation process at The Glenlivet is carefully monitored to ensure that the spirit is of the highest quality. The whisky is double distilled in traditional copper pot stills, which gives it a distinctive, smooth flavor. After distillation, the whisky is aged in oak casks for a minimum of 12 years, which allows it to develop its complex flavors and aromas.
The Glenlivet is particularly famous for its 12-year-old and 18-year-old single malts, which are considered to be some of the finest whiskies in the world. These whiskies have won numerous awards for their exceptional quality and have a reputation for being smooth, complex and well-balanced.
The distillery itself is located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by hills and heather, and offers tours and tastings for visitors who wish to learn more about the whisky-making process and sample some of The Glenlivet's finest offerings. The distillery also has a visitor center, which includes a gift shop and a café, where visitors can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or a bite to eat.
