How Many Scotch Distilleries
The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) is a trade organization that represents the interests of Scotch whisky producers.
Founded in 1942, the SWA is dedicated to promoting and protecting the reputation of Scotch whisky and ensuring that it is produced to the highest standards.
Scotch whisky is a type of whisky that is made in Scotland according to strict guidelines laid out in the Scotch Whisky Act of 1988. To be considered Scotch whisky, the spirit must be made from water and malted barley, must be aged in oak barrels for at least three years, and must not contain any added substances other than water and caramel coloring.
